 Amanda's Sheep

"Patrick and Janice,

First, thanks again for all the personal service, modifications, and advice in the past.

In my article last year we got stormed off before Amanda got her sheep.
She also complained of the cold mornings and evenings camping at
timberline.  Both issues were resolved this year.

We purchased a 4-man tipi this summer and have used it on several
camping trips, both backpack and car camping.  I haven't tried the
stove yet because of the convoluted fire regulations this year.  Colorado has
been know for years as the state with the most complicated laws in the nation.  Our sales tax laws are by far the most complicated of all
fifty states.  Our hunting regulations are almost impossible to wade through and understand.  Now we have a fire ban and every county in the state has a completely different set of regulations on top of the original statewide ban.  However, for car camping trips I resorted to my 20 lb.
propane tank and Mr. Heater.  On 'low' it works just fine and does not
over heat.

We went up after school last Tuesday and camped at timberline near
Democrat Mountain above Empire.  Since we drove, we were able to use
Mr. Heater and rolling Amanda out a 4:30 was a whole lot easier.  It took us an hour to hike in to our favorite lookout and by 7:15 Amanda had her sheep.  We finally got back to camp around noon and by the time I had skinned the sheep and packed up camp, it was snowing.  The weather has been miserable up there ever since.  Attached is picture of one happy hunter.

Thanks,
John Thompson
