Hey Paul, R&R in AK checking in. I don't reload but do have considerable experience with both Nosler partitions 250 gr.and TB bearclaw's 225 gr. in .338 caliber. Both in Fed Premium. The Nosler's also group better in my rifle, a lh 700 bdl remington, averaging about 1 inch groups, the TB bear's are in the High energy configuration and open up to about a 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inch group with a lower point of impact and a bit to the right. A bit disturbing but I compensate by changing the setting on my Leupold 1 3/4 by 6 as they are the only 2 loads I use in that rifle. The Nosler's for moose and caribou and the TB's for bears either in salmon choked rivers and spawning beds or spot and stalk in the hills and rolling tundra. I just like the idea of a bit tougher bullet for breaking down the shoulder bones in a bear and the added muzzle energy is icing on the cake for that particular task. In my experience shooting a fair amount of game the Nosler's are more fragile and come apart more often, but seem to be adequate for moose and caribou, bear's seem on average to take on considerable more lead and keep on trucking. Check out the Barnes X bullets, because I guide, I get to see a variety of firearms, loads and marksmanship ( or lack of ) and have been duly impressed with the Barnes X. BTW does it seem to you that their is an unusually high % of us southpaws that are in to this hardcore, or are we just hardheaded? Best of luck to you this season, I'm 13 days away from leaving for the Brooks Range in pursuit of an old curly top Dall Ram. Time to go packing, over and out. R&R in AK
