Paul, Each gun is a law unto itself. Two identical gusn with cosecutive serial nos., made on the same day, could both shoot different bullets and loads, differently. There are a number of variables in manufacturing tolerances of guns--some known and others are unknown variables. So if your rifle shoots something well, just use it and count your blessings, I guess. Nosler partitions get an undeserved bad rap because the nose is so fragile that it blows off on impact with the close range shots. I use Nosler partitions a lot, because for a premium bullet, they are usualy good shooters in most guns. They give great terminal performance with plenty of penetration. Ive heard some people say that Nosler partitions occassionaly blow up--I dont believe this at all. Ive been using them and so do most my friends, for many years. Its true that the nose blows off and leaves frags every where--this could be mistaken for a blown bullet if you did not do thorough research in the wound channel and I suspect that these reports are from people seeing the frags and not looking real close for the bullet shank because they assume the bullet blew up. Ive never found any concrete evidence in my years of using the partition that they blow up, never! the benefit of that fragile nose, is that they will still open up on extra long range shots where the vel. has dropped real low--a stiffer nose would not open up on real long shots. The Nosler Partition comes as close to a bullet that does it all as is possible.
