Hi Everyone... Just wanted to let you all know what we found while using the Tipi on an ocean beach. First of all...it performed very well with no hitches. I was concerned that the Zippers would clog, but they are so hefty that they just spit the sand out with no trouble at all. It was very easy to ventilate and very nice shelter from the hot sun. Great place for naps. One problem the sand presented was that the Kifaru sst pegs filled up with hard packed sand and they could only be removed with the pressure of a garden hose....not possible in the field, unless someone else has discovered a way. This is a problem that would add a lot of wieght if you were back packing. Also the TIPI material had a lot of sand granules on it at the end of the Day, especialyy the seams where I used the seam sealer... so we packed it out in a larger stuff sack to prevent the sand from damaging the tipi with friction in transport. Cleaning it at home was very easy with a hose and air drying.
