Sorry, didn't realize the site was up and running again after the phantom message echo incident.
I've gotten my 200 yard groups to 1.5 inches through the 30-06 with Federal Premium High Energy rounds (Nosler Partition) and I'm by no means a perfectionist. I'm working in Utah right and having a hard time finding a good range with benches and a time to shoot when it isn't 100 degrees or the wind isn't above 15 mph, so the accuracy might actually be better. I haven't noticed a huge difference in the thumping my shoulder receives by shooting the same rounds through a gun weighing a pound less than my old Mountain Rifle. However, I'm thankful for the factory pad.
I'm not going to the extremes that JF has gone on reducing weight. I guess I still want a rifle to feel like a rifle. I'm still amazed about its factory weight to the point of having to check to see if the gun is actually in its case when I'm loading up the truck.
The new '06 will get her first real test on the Alaskan tundra in 21 days, 22 hours and 12 minutes.....but who's counting?
