Yo Greg, From my camp, a big thumbs up on the Leupold 12-40. It's been a great piece of gear for me for the last 6 or 7 years, used hard during a 6-8 week guide season every year. From sheep in the Brooks Range to the wet nasty wx of the AK peninsula and Bristol Bay region it always performs, no question. Guaranteed for life and light weight, good optical quality. Traded up from a Bausch & Lomb Elite series- great scope but the ocular lens was a problem for me wearing glasses. The Leupold eliminated that completely. Good hunting to you all this season and be safe as you venture afield no matter what mode of transport you choose. Sheep season was a wet foggy frustration but still a good time with partner R&R, now on to moose, 'bou and the really fun stuff, big bears. Talk to you after our season ends, mid October. Shoot straight, Oz
