My first day big game hunting with the Spike Camp was only opening day of archery season. My oldest son returned today from Pearl Harbor, so I picked him up at DIA. But even one day told me a lot about the pack.
First, I didn't kill a deer, so I could't try it out "the hard way." New place, so I had to scout a bit, and look for elk for my friend. The deer and elk seem to be a lot lower than I expected. The pack rides well, and you get to almost forget it's there.
The new pull outs are a great help. Get the big one and put your day's food in there. No more Clif bars in the bottom of the pack. Food is easy to get to, and things just work. You only need two, as far as I can tell, but they make the pack a lot nicer.
The USGS maps fit in perfectly between the dq panels on the cargo chair and the chair itself. Works perfectly, and I don't have to remove the pack to get them.
My camo was good enough that a squirrel ran up my leg when I sitting quietly. Turned him inside out when I moved!
Comfortable pack. It rides well, and breathes well. Everything Patrick says it is, it is. And since we've got a few cow tags to fill, I'll know more about it with pounds in it soon.
