Engineering & Ergonomics: for three decades , we've specialized in crafting a rhino-tough pack that provides the most intelligently engineered load bearing system ever built - small pack or large. The bottom line? More comfort, longevity and efficiency in the field.
The System: our entire product line functions as a System - fully integrating each pack with another to maximize your versatility and ability to customize your pack for your mission at hand.
Pack Families :
we classify our packs by suspension design rather than volume, letting you optimize for your mission needs.

Crafting a low profile, comfortable suspension system.

Unparalleled Fit, Unparalleled Load Control.
After more than two decades of pack building, we've learned to strategically integrate load and human. We deliver not only comfort, but stability and maximum performance - critical when the heat is on.

Since 1979 , we've focused on providing a frame and suspension that sticks to you, moves with you, and alleviates hot spots. Each element is designed to help center and stabilize the load, and transfer weight to the parts of your body that are meant to carry it. You carry more stuff further with efficiency.

Traditional belts attempt a
"force fit" with padding & plates

A Kifaru belt "drapes" over the anatomy and hugs your body for stability/comfort

Looks vs. Feel.
Extremely thick padded, rigid belts and shoulder straps can be deceiving. They might look comfortable, but lack the load spreading efficiency of a well engineered and anatomically correct suspension.
Take a close look at one of our belts: you'll notice it's not just a span of Cordura. Instead, numerous darts and seams are designed to drape the belt around you in a fashion that carries lots of weight without pain, and stays put too - no matter if you are a small hip-less guy, or with a bit of padding. Even cinches down well over layers of clothing!

Take a careful look when buying a pack.
Does it contour where you do?
Does it rely on chunky padding?
How advanced are the materials and technologies?
What guarantees to you get?
Are you buying a pack for life?

Kifaru GunBearer®
A
ll Kifaru packs (even the smallest!) are equipped with the revolutionary GunBearer® - a simple, efficient way to securely carry your long gun, transferring the weight comfortably to your hips leaving both your hands free for climbing, bushwhacking, whatever. No more slings slipping off your shoulder, no more banged scopes. Originally invented for rambling in bear country, this is the safest, most comfortable way ever devised to carry your rifle and a backpack. Quicker than a shoulder sling, it's fast enough for wing shooting. With a flick of your wrist, your rifle or shotgun can be instantly shouldered for firing. Fully adjustable for any length rifle or shotgun, use it right or left handed, or remove it when you aren't packing a long gun.

The original explorers who crossed the
Appalachians were called Long Hunters, and the name carried over into the era of the Free Trappers of the Rocky Mountains (whom we call Mountain Men). It implies traveling long distances away from civilization in search of game. Real adventure!
