Blending the efficiency of a tarp with the stand-up room of a Tipi, this little shelter is a great combo of weight savings & comfort. At nearly 7 feet tall (with capability of increasing height), you get plenty of headroom, and can easily get dressed, stretch or pull in a couple of camp chairs around the wood fired stove. We then throw in more creature comforts like a zippered door and optional mosquito netting - remarkably, all at just 4 1/2 pounds* that shrinks down into a tiny, man-carryable package. The perfect back country lodge for on-foot duo or solo travelers.

Same rugged, proven fabric as all our shelters.
The semi-conical shape has no big flat sides to catch wind or snow, and has proven its mettle in sustained winds of 50 mph, and gusts of well over 70 mph. Weather simply slides up and over, like a sawtooth**. Guy line loops for your choice of guy-out cord, or not.

Want to save more weight? Ditch the rear pole and simply use a trekking pole or cut stick for a 3 ounce savings.

New! The Sawtooth Liner. Those of you who routinely camp in humid, damp country will appreciate this barrier. Easily attaches via the clothesline loops, and as with all our liners, is configured in two halves - allowing you to deploy only one side if you're travelling solo and save weight. The Sawtooth Liner, of course, retrofits to a Sawtooth you might already own. Includes stuff sack.

Recommended stoves: small or medium.

** Like any shelter, you'll want to face your door away from the wind

A few weeks ago I received my 8man tipi, Sawtooth, and stoves for both.
I had a chance to test out the 8 man two weeks ago, and not surprisingly, was completely satisfied with everything. I can't say enough good things about the products, and please pass on to Patrick
what fantastic products they are. I'm an engineer and product designer and I can tell right away that they were designed by someone who really goes out in the field and uses the equipment.
Regards,
Michael

Seam Sealing

youtube   see our video Seam Sealing a Tipi

1. Pitch the shelter: for best results, pitch the tipi tight - this will allow the sealer to penetrate and waterproof the stretched seams, stitch holes and the thread, and allows more surface coverage so the next time your Tipi is pitched, the seam sealer won't crack or separate.
2. Fabric & Sealant: The fabric should be clean and dry, however, this sealer claims to cure in wet or damp conditions. Using a paper cup, mix sealant and mineral spirit (paint thinner) until you have a slurry about the thickness of molasses. Using a 1/2" inch paint brush, apply to all sewn areas, seams, bartacks and holes - don't forget every stitchline on the cone!
3. Curing:  leave the tent pitched until the sealant is not tacky.  The longer the better.  The sealant fully cures in 24 hours but dries tack free in about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Clean up hands and other areas with a dry paper towel.
